So, hey, remember when I went dark for like a month last year? That's because I wrote and directed a play at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Now that play, Midnight in Nashville, is running for a couple of weeks in London (the one in England!) from August 26 to September 7 at the Glitch theatre near Waterloo station. All shows at 7 p.m. Same awesome two actors from Edinburgh (who happen to be American), new director, revised show.

Meet Marcy Aurora, a honky-tonk angel who was headed to the heights of country music fame when she committed a murder she doesn’t regret. Out of prison after 20 years, Marcy is in an all-night recording session in a studio in Nashville, trying to lay down the tracks for a new album, pissed off at a nosy reporter, wrestling with memories of her incarceration, and fighting with Colleen, the sound engineer, about what her real voice is now.
Midnight in Nashville stars Kentucky-born, London-based actor and singer Biz Lyon as Marcy and features Catherine Mieses as Colleen, with Lyon singing and playing live original and old folk and blues songs. It’s directed by Alex Stroming, who last year helmed an acclaimed production of Scenes with girls at the Golden Goose Theatre.
The show debuted at the Edinburgh Fringe in August 2025, where it was named one of the nine shows to see by the Edinburgh Reporter while The List gave it four stars and talked about its “brutal honesty”: “The everyday heartache of Lee Papa’s new play could be set to a million country numbers.” Another reviewer praised it for being about “a middle-aged woman defiantly finding her way back into the world… and that’s a tale that has resonance beyond its time and place.” Check out our Instagram page to see how enthusiastic our audiences were, too.
